Guided

relaxation practice
will help children to purposefully relax their bodies, turn
inward, and focus on their own breath. Relaxation is a learned
skill and it’s a great idea to take a few minutes
to practice relaxation skills every day. Many parents do
so by including relaxation practice in their child’s
bedtime routine.
The
Magic Window Relaxation Practice (recording
and information is from the Floppy Sleep Game Book, by Patti
Teel)
Directions:
Have your child stretch or move freely to the short musical
introduction before following the subsequent directions,
which will lead your child through a couple of stretches.
The stretches will help children release tension as they
begin unwinding and relaxing their bodies. I suggest that
you and your child stretch together for several reasons:
it will be fun, you’ll both reap the benefits, and
the easiest way for your child to learn the stretches or
yoga postures is to follow your movements. Follow up with
The Magic Window visualization.
