There are three steps we can take to combat children’s fears and phobias. 1.) Teach children relaxation skills such as progressive relaxation, visualization, and belly breathing—(also known as diaphragmatic breathing.) This is important because children’s fears can turn to panic in a heartbeat. When kids can calm themselves, they can learn to stop the fight or flight response. 2.)
